An Old Florida Christmas

Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 11am to 4pm

This event will continue as scheduled. The weather looks like it will be a little cold and rainy, but there are no severe weather alerts.

We will have vendors selling hot food & drinks. And with its central heat, the Church is a great place to warm up while listening to live music.

Celebrate old-fashioned holiday traditions with our beautifully decorated buildings, live music, make-and-take crafts, vintage silent films, food vendors, and more.

Shop local and support our community's artists. Local heritage craft vendors will be selling handmade items like soaps, aprons and wreaths.

This is a ticketed event. Tickets cost $5 for adults. Children under 12 are free.

Free parking is available at: Manatee Village Historical Park, East Manatee Health and Wellness Center (1312 Manatee Ave E), Manatee Baptist Church (1501 7th Ave E), and Manatee Elementary School (1609 6th Ave E).

Heritage Craft Vendors:

Interested in becoming a vendor in 2019? Email us at

Participation is free. Vendors are assigned a 10’x10’ space, and are asked to provide their own tables, chairs, tents, signs, etc.

Vendors must be selling items as an independent small business that is not connected to a larger national chain or corporation. Therefore, we do not accept companies like Lula Roe, Origami Owl, Paparazzi, or the Candle Lab.

Get your picture with Father Christmas!

Father Christmas will be in the schoolhouse from 12-1pm and 2-3pm.

Make & Take Crafts

There will be three free make-and-take craft stations that will include:

  • Orange Pomanders: these traditional Florida decorations were meant to bring health and wellness to the household.
  • Florida Cracker Ornaments: Florida's cow boys were known as "Crackers" because the sound of their whips cracking over the heads of cattle they were herding could be heard for miles.
  • Snowman ornaments: learn how to turn to a clothespin into a cute snowman.

Meet Scrooge and Charles Dickens

Charles Dickens and Scrooge will be wandering Manatee Village Historical Park for photo-ops with visitors. They are portrayed by participants in our Character Acting Program who have researched Charles Dickens and society and clothing in the 1840s.
